Last Week Study Plan For SSC CGL Exam Preparation

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam every year, which is divided into four phases: Tier-I, Tier-II, Tier-III, and Tier-IV. Candidates clearing the exam are recruited for different Group B and Group C officer posts under the Government of India.

Anyone who wishes to crack SSC CGL or any other government exam must know that having a study plan is the most critical step in the preparation process. Often candidates are perplexed as to how they should go about revising and boosting up their preparation just when there is only a week left before the exam.

On that note, let’s discuss an effective subject-wise study plan that you can follow to bolster your preparation in the last 6-7 days before the exam.

Quantitative Aptitude

Choose any four to five topics to practice each day for Quantitative Aptitude, and split the two hours evenly across them. Allot 30 minutes to revise formulas, short tricks, and questions in each, for example, you start with 30 minutes of Mensuration, devote two subsequent 30 minutes slots to Algebra and  Ratio & Proportion respectively, and spend the last 30 minutes to revise Time and Work.

You must do the same every day until you have completed the entire Quantitative Aptitude syllabus of SSC CGL. You can also watch online videos or take an SSC Live Coaching for Freshers class, where experts impart last-minute tips, strategy and tricks to bolster your preparation in quantitative aptitude and other subjects.

General Awareness

Devote two hours each day to reading English newspapers such as THE HINDU, HINDUSTAN TIMES, or THE TIMES OF INDIA. This will help you keep abreast with the current affairs and write essays/precis/letters as well. This way it will benefit you in Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III preparation.

Furthermore, go through previous years’ questions and take as many quizzes and mock tests as possible. There are multiple websites and apps available online that publish regularly updated current affairs and offer General Awareness quizzes and tests that you can take for free. You can download the best test preparation apps from the google play store so that if you want, you can easily take a small quiz on your smartphone in your free time.

English

GIve English Language and Comprehension two hours every day as well and divide its syllabus into parts for revision.

In the first 75 minutes practice a few unseen passages, then devote the next 45 minutes to revise idioms, phrases, and one-word substitutes, among others. Similarly, the next day, complete a few comprehension passages in the first hour and the next 20 minutes to practice letter writing, the remaining time can be devoted to solving questions in sentence correction, error spotting, and so on.

General Intelligence and Reasoning

The same rules apply to General Intelligence and Reasoning. Allow 2 hours for revision and divide the entire syllabus into parts. Spend no more than 30 minutes on any one topic. Begin by allocating 30 minutes to the Venn diagram, 30 minutes to direction & distances, and so on.

Some Important General Tips to Remember During the Last Week of Your SSC CGL Preparation

  • Take out time for current affairs and read and watch the news for 30 minutes daily.
  • Avoid revision through several books. Revise only from the notes that you have made during preparation.
